MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: FINDING MOTIVATION THIS WINTER

As the colder months roll in and the days grow shorter, it’s not uncommon for motivation to dip especially when it comes to staying active. But for many of our members, the health club is more than just a place to work out; it’s a space to reset, recharge and stay on top of both your physical and mental wellbeing.

But for Soraiya, one of our dedicated Health Club members, movement is more than a routine, it’s a tool for maintaining energy, mental clarity, and motivation throughout the colder months.

Working in a high-pressure executive media role, Soraiya sought out a circuit breaker to balance her busy schedule and prioritise her wellbeing. Since joining, she’s embraced everything the club has to offer and found her stride with a consistent, energising routine that supports both her body and mind.

We caught up with Soraiya to find out what keeps her going, how she stays motivated in winter, and her advice for those just getting started:

1. Tell us a bit about yourself, what inspired you to join the health club?
I work in an intense executive media role, which means a lot of time spent sitting down. I needed a circuit breaker , something to shake up the routine and get me moving. That’s what drew me to the club.

2. What does your typical workout routine look like, and what are your favourite classes or equipment?
I’m a regular in the FX30 classes and I love using the treadmill to get my cardio up, trainer Eddy can definitely vouch for that. These sessions fit perfectly into my daily routine, even with the demands of full time work and a demanding life schedule.

3. What goals have you achieved since joining, and what are you currently working towards?
My goal is simple: to feel better. I think it's a common misconception that everyone who goes to the gym is only there to lose weight or chase some kind of 'ultimate body'. For me, it’s about feeling more energised and ready to tackle whatever comes next.

4. How has being part of the club community impacted your overall wellbeing?
I absolutely love the community. Personally, I find it incredibly motivating to see experienced and older members working out, it reminds me that so much of what we’re capable of comes down to mindset. It keeps me honest and focused.

5. What advice would you give to someone just starting out on their fitness journey?
Start small and build your way up. Everyone wants to be at the top of the mountain, but real growth, and happiness, happens while you're climbing it. It’s all about progress, not perfection.

6. What keeps you motivated to work out during winter, and do you have any advice on exercising consistently in the colder months?
I’m always cold, so knowing I’ll be warm after a workout is one of my biggest motivators. But more than that, there’s never a perfect time to start. Habit forming is the key, no matter the season.
