International Women’s Day 2026

Imagine a gender equal world, diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where our differences are valued and celebrated. This International Women’s Day, we join the global movement to celebrate the achievements of women and reaffirm our commitment to a world free of bias and stereotypes.

This year’s theme, #GiveToGain, reminds us that when we invest in women through support and opportunity, we all benefit. At Oran Park, we are proud to spotlight three of our incredible team members who are making waves and inspiring the next generation.

Meet Matea

Matea is a fantastic example of growth and dedication within our team. Starting as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor, she has worked her way up through our LEA Trainee program to join our Pool Deck Coordinator team. And outside of the centre, Matea is an avid footballer playing in the local WNPL.

What inspired your career and what do you love about coaching? "I grew up in a household where physical and mental wellbeing was a big priority. I grew up swimming and knew I wanted to give back by using my skills to help others find their passion too. What I love most is seeing people grow in confidence. Whether it’s a child learning to swim for the first time or someone overcoming a fear of the water, being part of that journey is incredibly rewarding."

What is your advice for women looking to build confidence? "Just start. We all begin somewhere, and confidence grows through action. The hardest part is often walking through the door, but once you do, you’re already building strength. Don’t worry about what others around you think. Focus on your own progress and do it for yourself. Showing up consistently is something to be proud of."

How do you personally stay motivated and prioritise your wellbeing? "Motivation comes from doing activities I actually love rather than forcing myself into a chore. I make movement a regular part of my routine and surround myself with positive, supportive teammates. Staying active helps me manage stress, feel confident, and maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life."

Meet Josephine

Josephine is a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor at Oran Park, dedicated to helping members understand the vital role exercise plays in a happy life.

What inspired your career and what do you love about coaching? "My love for fitness and my understanding of the importance of exercise inspired me to begin a career in the fitness industry."

What is your advice for women looking to build confidence in the gym? "Prioritise time to build a routine that will give you confidence. Practice makes progress, and consistency builds confidence."

How do you personally stay motivated and prioritise your wellbeing? "A great playlist and a genuine love for pushing myself!"
